The Lion and the Bird EP

Ryan McNamee This first release is wonderfully done. Great production on all four tracks. The instrumentation remains recognizable, yet each track rolls through in a different style. I'd really like to see where this artist goes in the future. My hope would be more of a punk/folk-punk album next time around! Favorite track: The Irons.

Rain seeps into the moss your footprints leave a hole protozoa sing your praise the god they'll never know we break our fast on day old bread and the taste of ashen cloves my damp chill bones and crooked feet they know just where to go (ooh) I am nowhere, I am nowhere, I am nowhere Freeways moving snaking twisting in and out the clouds of Rainier on my Southern shoulder and to the mountain down I am nowhere, I am nowhere, I am nowhere (ooh) We break our fast on day old bread and the taste of ashen cloves my damp chill bones and crooked feet they know just where to go

If I could give sight to the blind I'd give away my eyes If I could leave it all behind I'd give away my home If Mars is too much like the Southern deserts you despise then let's move on to the west coast where I'll never be alone Well I've got 97 days of freedom breathing down my neck I've got 1000 words a minute running through my sorry head so stamp some gaslights to my eyeballs paint some bloodstains on my feet burn me on a pyre at dawn so I can swallow my defeat cause every day I spend here's like I'm waiting for the end and I'm sick and tired of waiting around its making me sick in the head and I'm sick and tired of staring out the window thinking I'm dead The broken glass is inviting, the river's calling me home So I'm gonna go, I've got to go, and you've got to leave me alone Cause I've got 97 days to pour my soul out on the ground Fix up the broken parts by the time September rolls around If I could give sight to the blind I'd give away my eyes If I could leave it all behind I'd give away my home If Mars is too much like the Southern deserts you despise then let's move on to the west coast where I'll never be alone Well this was meant to be a song of escape, a song of angry hope but plans fell through now I'm still here still dangling on that rope but every word I write helps to wash that pain away so here's to fear and cracking a smile on my wedding day If I could give sight to the blind I'd give away my eyes If I could leave it all behind I'd give away my home If Mars is too much like the Southern deserts you despise then let's move on to the west coast where I'll never be alone

The Irons 04:20
If it's your face I'm kissin and my wings I'm missin then all of the envies of our lives before push us out away from shore and the scars are easier to bear when they're on my skin, not my soul and the pain is easier to bear than the not knowin if you know what I know Hit that bottle Hit that scene Forge the Irons Let's unsee the obscene kinds of things that we've seen If it's your face I'm seeing when my life flashes before my eyes, why is it you? Why? I don't even know you and you must be the ocean 'cause I'm drowning and the water burns my eyes and the scars are easier to bear when they're on my skin, not my soul and the pain is easier to bear than the not knowin if you know what I know Hit that bottle Hit that scene Forge the Irons Let's unsee the obscene kinds of things that we've seen And put those irons on me put those irons on me...
